probably not so quick answer..LOL
The geneology of Jesus Christ. I had troubles with it once. Tried to follow it back and got lost..
A few minutes ago I'm just riding along and a thought came to me..
The seed came through Faith and not flesh and blood.
I don't know where this is headed or what it means..
but I know the flesh and blood line isn't what's important it's the faith line that Jesus came by.
what do you think? making sense?

If it wasn't important, why was it given?
We need to look at the Luke geneology. Everyone's argues concerning Joseph, but Mary is also a direct descendent of David.
Luk 3:31 Which was [the son] of Melea, which was [the son] of Menan, which was [the son] of Mattatha, which was [the son] of Nathan, which was [the son] of David,
Many of these people are not even mentioned in the OT. It is, in fact, important that prophecy be fulfilled and prophecy dictated that Jesus would be born through David's line. That is why it's important. If a person starts fiddling with the prophecies, you lose credibility. It's a way of checking the truth of something.

Hi gingerwine
I'm sure the geneology is important but maybe that's not what made it apparent for some like Peter..
Mat 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed [it] unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
there's a question Jesus asks and I'm not sure of the significance:
Luk 20:41 ¶ And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's son?
Luk 20:42 And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
Luk 20:43 Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Luk 20:44 David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?
and as if in answer to his own question..because no one answered it that I can see, he says:
Luk 20:45 ¶ Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples,
Luk 20:46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;
Luk 20:47 Which devour widows' houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.
and then I saw this..weird.
1Ch 27:32 Also Jonathan David's uncle was a counsellor, a wise man, and a scribe: and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni [was] with the king's sons:
1Ki 15:1 ¶ Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat reigned Abijam over Judah.
1Ki 15:2 Three years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name [was] Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.
1Ki 15:3 And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.
1Ki 15:4 Nevertheless for David's sake did the LORD his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem:
1Ki 15:5 Because David did [that which was] right in the eyes of the LORD, and turned not aside from any [thing] that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
1Ki 15:6 And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.
I'm just trying to figure out what the point was in Jesus asking the question?
just diggin..probably end up in a ditch somewhere..I do that sometimes..LOL

Just thinking the seed on Mary's side is from David.
I just wondered if the seed on Joseph's side was from Jonathan.
not seed..but brotherly love..faith something...
or rather..somewhere the two meet somehow.
Jonathan is mixed in this, i just can't put my finger on it right now.
Thanks for letting me vent..
