hi fruit. Nice post.
Just to add my 2 cents, I believe this is what is meant in relation to the beast in Rev buying and selling; making merchandise of the things which belong to God.
I got thinking about the Roman catholic church who has made a business out of selling icons and little plastic statues of the saints and crosses and rosaries etc. etc and the selling of indulgences. However, I also got to thinking about Jerusalem and how the Jews there benefit from all that tourism and are also involved in selling merchandise related to Christ.
Paul says those who preach the gospel are allowed to live off the gospel. How would you draw the line between earning your living at it and making merchandise of it?
One last thing I was tossing around; I wondered if the two witnesses lying dead in thee streets of Jerusalem where the beast would not suffer their bodies to be put in graves could mean this merchandising aspect of the saints. IOW, their bones are always lying in the streets, continually being on display, so to speak. Just a thought.
