This is interesting, fruit. It seems that when they were sent the first time without purse and script, etc. it was fully expected that their needs would be provided for them.
Luk 10:5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace [be] to this house.
Luk 10:6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
Luk 10:7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
So, of course the question becomes why they would suddenly have to start providing for themselves after the death of Jesus and how this relates to
"for the things concerning me have an end."
However, this scripture comes to mind;
Luk 5:34 And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?
Mat 9:15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.
So fasting and mourning have a connection.

Well, I had a thought or rather a question. See, my studies always start with a question, then I see where it leads me and test it out.
The question; Why was Jesus so adament about Peter looking after his sheep? Was the Lord not going to be looking after them himself?
Ideas; who were the sheep at that time - mostly Israel. I don't think we hear much about gentiles at this time. Then I think about the parable about the Lord going on a journey to a far country and leaving his servants to look after his house. To me, far country means far off from God. IOW, the gentiles; the other flock.
Then I think about Romans and the fallen Israel and the prophecy about the Lord leaving them.
All bits and pieces. How all this is connected, though, I have no idea. LOL!
