Since I can't seem to get back to Matt at the moment, I thought I would just post in this thread daily observations of my studies, so the posts might be unrelated to each other (although we know everything is connected in some way Very Happy )

today Isaiah;

Isa 11:1 ¶ And there shall come forth **a rod ** out of the stem (same word as stock) of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
Isa 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

Isa 11:3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

Isa 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with **the rod of his mouth,** and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

Rev 12:5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and [to] his throne.

So we see this iron rod with which Jesus *smites* the nations (plural) is something which proceeds out of his mouth. We also know that the two-edged sword proceeds out of his mouth. There is only one logical conclusion about what the rod is and that is words; words proceed out of the mouth (the tongue) So the nations are smitten with the words of Jesus.
Hence his name, the Word.

Iron; fascinating. In reading this you see the relationship everywhere. Of particular interest; the supernova and also the lack of iron in the seas.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron#Characteristics

Iron is very strong, has a very high melting point and can't be bent or twisted.

Strongs characteristics of iron; harshness, strength, oppression (fig.)

So this rod of iron is the words that Jesus speaks, which is the message from the Father.

Jhn 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, [they] are spirit, and [they] are life.

Jhn 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

Psa 74:2 Remember thy congregation, [which] thou hast purchased of old; the rod (mouth) of thine inheritance, [which] thou hast redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.

Mal 2:1 ¶ And now, O ye priests, this commandment [is] for you.
Mal 2:4 And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.
Mal 2:6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.
Mal 2:7 For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he [is] the messenger of the LORD of hosts.

Jer 51:19 The portion of Jacob [is] not like them; for he [is] the former of all things: and [Israel is] the rod of his inheritance: (mouthpiece) the LORD of hosts [is] his name.

Mat 15:18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

Degrees of the rod;

Pro 13:24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
Pro 22:15 Foolishness [is] bound in the heart of a child; [but] the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
Pro 23:13 Withhold not correction from the child: for [if] thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
Pro 23:14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

Pro 3:11 My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
Pro 3:12 For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son [in whom] he delighteth.

2Ti 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

This is obviously then talking about using the rod for discipline and correction. But the rod is used to varying degrees.

Pro 15:10 Correction [is] grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: [and] he that hateth reproof shall die.

Jer 2:30 In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own sword (rod) hath devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.

Jer 7:28 But thou shalt say unto them, This [is] a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the LORD their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.

Obviously, the wicked have a mouth (rod) too. They speak words of their own. Thus:

Mat 21:44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

This is longer than I thought, so will continue a little more with this later.

Very Happy
